When a unique hotel property in Erie was put on the market, three couples seized the opportunity to own and operate it. Carl Leicher and Brent Bricker had owned and operated their own construction companies for many years. Jill Leicher’s expertise in hospitality management, Kelly Bricker’s sales background, and James and Tammy Grassi’s experience in real estate and sales combined to give them the perfect skill set for a winning management team.
They renamed the property Steelhead Inn, a natural fit for their plans to cater to fisherman and other tourists visiting the Erie area known for its excellent fishing and world renowned Steelhead Run. Next, they made plans to renovate the 30 hotel rooms to better accommodate their guests. Carl and Brent knew they could handle the heavy lifting and construction work. The Progress Fund did their part providing a $300,000 loan for real estate improvements and working capital.
Steelhead Inn is quite a catch for the many fisherman and visitors to Presque Isle State Park, Waldameer Amusement Park and other Lake Erie area attractions. Their guests can enjoy a dip in their on-site swimming pool and experience all the great activities Erie has to offer without breaking their pocket books.
