Trail Town Program®
Creating Opportunities along the Nation’s Trails
These days, biking is more than pedaling, a trail isn’t just a path, and a town isn’t an obstacle, but an opportunity for adventure.
Today’s cyclists frequent restaurants, bike shops, grocery stores, pubs, small town shops, laundromats, and delis. They seek a touch of luxury in the form of B&Bs, massage therapy, art galleries, wineries, and visits to sites like the world-famous Frank Lloyd Wright houses and other nearby attractions.
That new reality underlies the Trail Town Program®. Since 2007, the Trail Town Program® has worked along the Great Allegheny Passage and has since expanded to other long distance trails across Western Pennsylvania. Trail Town Program® is an economic development initiative operated by The Progress Fund.

Real Estate Development Initiative
An initiative to redevelop key properties in key communities
We see unique communities across the region with the potential to revitalize their economy as part of a growing tourism industry. Sometimes these opportunities are hard for people to see at first. Someone needs to take the lead to show the possible. In key communities, we have purchased and rehabilitated key properties that are now homes for new businesses.
