People

Quilt Patch, Etc. is a specialized retailer preserving the old-fashioned quilt making process through hands-on instruction. The owners, Kathy Hepler and Rebecca Flack, wanted to relocate in order to showcase their business, optimize sales and blend with period shops providing other specialty products. The obstacle was their inability to secure a loan for tenant improvements.

Progress

The Progress Fund provided $50,000 of financing for renovation of the first floor interior of the historic C.S. Overholt House (circa 1840) at West Overton Village, a historic 19th century rural industrial village.

Impact

The relocation of Quilt Patch, Etc. to the C.S. Overholt House of West Overton Village reused a historic structure, provided a unique setting for the business and advanced the art of quilting and education about women’s heritage. The business opened its doors in March 2001.
