Young Scholars of Greater Allegheny
It was a good alignment because you are financing projects in communities that create opportunities, like jobs and education. That was part of your mission, so what we do aligns with what you do.

“We are providing a quality education for students coming from less fortunate neighborhoods,” says Adam Cengiz, CEO and principal of Young Scholars of Greater Allegheny. “Some don’t have strong social-emotional support structures.” His team had plenty of drive, but the structure they were in had few of the extras: no gym, no specialized art or science spaces, a cramped cafeteria and too few classrooms for the middle school cohort. Adam and his board turned to Enterprise Bank to finance a two-story expansion.
Progress
Enterprise Bank brought in frequent partner The Progress Fund, which contributed $1 million of a $4.7 million financing package.
Impact
Young Scholars has renovated classrooms, expanded the cafeteria and added the gym, STEAM and art spaces. Adam sought to round out an experience that was already strong in language and technology. Now with two classrooms per grade and eight new teaching positions, the school rapidly added 100 new enrollees. “For our families, a good education is the key to successful life,” says Adam, “and we are the pipeline to provide that.”
